FIVE FACTS FROM THE SOURCE (Embedded):
EX: The article cites Maria Nikolajeva, a professor of at Cambridge, as saying that Bella does not "in any way promote independent thinking or personal development" in women, instead portraying a woman "meek and willing to do anything for her vampire boyfriend" (POV).
Amal Chakraburtty states that there is no "exact cause of most mental illnesses" but it is known that psychological factors can increase a case of mental illness.(Chakraburtty)
A cause of a mental illness can be triggered by severe "defects in or injury to certain areas of the brain".(Chakraburtty)

An environmental factor that can contribute to causing a mental illness is "a dysfunctional family life" or "living in poverty".(Chakraburtty)

"Early fetal brain development or trauma that occurs at the time of birth" can cause severe levels of autism.(Chakraburtty)

Abuse of drugs ad alcohol have "been linked to anxiety, depression, and paranoia" which are also slight symptoms of a mental illness.(Chakraburtty)
Summary of Source (Three-Four Sentences of the Who, What, Where, Why, and How in your own words. NO OPINION):
Anyone can be born with a mental disability, or any slight action in a person's early years can cause them to build up a mental illness.  There are three main ways that a human can gain a mental illness which are, biological, psychological, and environmental factors.  Biological factors of gaining a mental illness can include being born with a genetic defect, infections, brain defects or injury, prenatal damage, or susbstance abuse.  Psychological factors of a mentall illness can be neglect, poor ability to relate to others, an early loss of a parent or someone close to them, or severe trauma.  An environmental factor can cause a mentall illness by living in poverty, changing jobs or schools, living with a dysfunctional family, or low self-esteem.
Credibility of Source:
Author or Site: Who is the author? What training have they had? If there is no author, examine the site. What is the purpose of the site? Who funds the site?
The author of this website is Dr. Amal Chakraburtty, who graduated from Calcutta University, in Calcutta, India.  He is currently  a practicing psychiatrist in Oklahoma and is also licensed in Wisconsin, Texas, and Florida.  Dr. Amal is also the Medical Director at Decisions Day Treatment Program in Oklahoma City, and is also works with the Associate Clinical Professor of Psychiatry at the School of Medicine, University of Oklahoma.  The purpose of this site is to let people know how mental health conditions are triggered and built up.

Attachment: Does the author or site have anything to gain from writing this, or is it simply informative? For example, is it a cigarette business posting an article about the benefit of cigarettes, or is it a scientific community unaffiliated with the cigarette business?

The author does not seem to gain anything from this, it only seems just to be informative to let people be aware of the causes of mental illnesses.

Bias: Do you detect a bias (a favoring of either side) in the author's writing?

There is no bias in this author's writting.  The website is only focusing on information of the causes of mental illnesses.

References: Does the author cite references in the writing? If so, do these add or take away from the credibility?

The author does not cite references in the writing, but it does not make the articles any less informationsal because it is still great information because it is coming from a licensed doctor.

Use of Source: How will you use this source in your project

I would use this source in my project by letting people know how mental illnesses is caused, and how any little action can trigger a child or adults reaction, and make them traumatized leading to them building up a mental illness.

Senior Project Proposal

Senior Project Proposal

Proposed Topic in the form of an  Essential Question:
Why does most of society look down upon people with mental health issues?

Rationale for Choice
What about this topic appeals to you? Why did you choose it?
This topic appeals to me because my mother works at a mental health clinic and the children and adults there, most of the time, greet me with a friendly smile.  But when people hear of someone with mental health issues, they usually think of the time when the kids and adults are going threw a hard time and not in their nice and sweet sense of mind.  I chose this topic because some people are afraid and look at people with mental health differently, but since I have been helping out at my mom's work since I was a kid, I've learned that people with mental health are not as different as some people make it may seem.

What do you already know about this subject?
I know that anything small can traumatize a child to have mental health issues, even when they grow into adulthood.

What are you hoping to learn about the subject?
I hope to learn more about mental health issues, and what triggers the mood swings that come without warning.

What are you most interested in regarding the topic?
I am mostly interested with they way the mind works with someone who has a mental health issue/issues.

What potential risks or challenges do you foresee for your project?
The potential risks that I hope do not come in the way of my project are not finding enough information, and that I would not be able to change a couple of people's minds about the way they think about children and adults with mental health issues.
